The shower feels absolutely amazing. The cold water hits my face washing all the dirt and ash off of me. I rinse my hair, washing it twice to make sure the smell is gone. I scrub my face getting the ash out of my pores. I stay an extra ten minutes just letting the water run off me. Finally, I get out and grab a towel. Oh crap, wouldn’t you know, no towel. That was the downside to working on laundry day. I peek out my bedroom door and call out to Carissa, “Riss! Can you bring me a towel?” I’m shivering from the windows being left open blowing air right over my bare skin. “Riss!” Ugh, she’s not answering. I peek out and see she’s nowhere to be found. Oh, what the heck. I tiptoe down the hall and across the living room. Our rooms are on opposite sides of the apartment, which benefits me greatly when she brings guy friends over. We had our own bathrooms as well, leaving little to argue about. “Where the heck are you…son of a—” I quickly cover my parts with my freezing cold hands as I hear him laugh. “Turn around!” I demand. He continues laughing as the blood drains from my face completely. My face is pale, and I could die right now. Literally die. “Sorry, didn’t mean to disturb ya there.” The southern tone comes from his sweet lips. Eric. He blinks several times before finally covering his eyes. Oh holy balls, he just saw me naked. Butt naked. And wet.

Let me just start off by saying WOW.  We are HUGE fans of Brooke Cumberland.  We received the privilege of reviewing an ARC copy of Kitchen Affairs, beta for Kitchen Scandals and beta for Spark.  If you have not read Brooke Cumberland, we are demanding you put ALL three of these books on your must read list.

Ok, so now back to Spark.

This is a story of a girl who has so much emotional baggage and lived through so much physical trauma, I’m surprised she is actually functioning.  On the outside, Velany is just your every day girl living in the world.  It’s what lurks underneath that gives her so much depth.  One night, after a fire in her apartment building, she is rescued by the handsome and loveable, Eric, the uber sexy firefighter.

This book is filled with will they, won’t they, will they again.  We can’t help but LOVE the angst in this book.  Everything in us kept screaming, JUST DO IT AREADY about so many things.  These two chicks, fell in LOVE with this book within the first few pages.  I mean, really, is there anything sexier than a hot firefighter rescuing a damsel in distress?  Ummm, no.  No there is not

The sexual tension in this book.  OH HELL!!!  It’s crazy.  She wants him, he wants her.  Now we’re back to the will they or won’t they?

With all the baggage that Velany is carrying around, will she be able to let Eric in.  Will Eric be able to crack down the walls that have been built up so high for so long?

After a crazy altercation with a blast from Velany’s past, will Eric be the support she needs and love her regardless of her past?

Will they be able to capture that SPARK?
