2 Chicks and a Blog - Manda's Review

Oh my sweet baby Jesus in a manger, Jennifer Miller you have done it again.  I absolutely adored this book and everything about it.  Pretty Little Dreams is the conclusion to Olivia and Luke's story and my God it was a beautiful story.  Jennifer takes you on a ride full of emotions from start to finish.  You feel the pain each one of these characters feel in every moment.  From spunky, full of life, Pyper.  To the douchebag kidnapper himself, Deacon.  This book was heartbreaking and full of so much love that it fixed the broken hearted feeling, time and time again.

The journey that Olivia and Luke go on is absolutely amazing.  It will pull at your soul and you will have more than one WTF moment, but in the end every piece was worth it.

Olivia is traumatized within every inch of her broken soul but with her friend, and her guy, there really isn't anything she cannot overcome.

Luke knows what she has been through and still wants nothing more than to help his angel overcome her demons and be whole again.  This story is a reminder that just because things may be difficult, doesn't mean they're impossible.

I laughed so hard I cried and I cried some real tears ... The story was amazing, the writing was beautiful and this check (even though I miss my fashion tips) gives this book 5 outta 5 hand me more wine in the grocery store stars.

Beautifully done Jennifer.  I can't wait to see what's next from you.

SYNOPSIS:
There is a place in all of us where our deepest secrets lie in wait for their moment to surface, and surface they will.
After living through a real live nightmare, Olivia wants nothing but to forget. Forget and move on. But how do you forget something that has stained your soul and forces you to lie to your loved ones? Even if your intentions are to spare them the horrors of the truth?
Luke knows Olivia is not as recovered as she would have him believe. He can see the pain she tries to keep hidden behind her eyes, and knows she has not told him everything. But how do you save someone who won’t let you in? Where shame holds Olivia captive, Luke suffers through the guilt of not protecting the one person he loves more than anything.
Can two people who have suffered so dearly find a way to come together or will they risk the dreams they have placed in each other’s hearts? Can love find a way where forgiveness cannot?

EXCERPT:
“HELP! I’VE BEEN KIDNAPPED. SOMEONE HEL…”
Suddenly, I am grabbed from behind and dragged into the bedroom and thrown on the bed like a rag doll. I try to roll onto my back but instead a weight settles on my back, and my face gets shoved into the mattress.
“Shut the fuck up, bitch.”
The voice is not Deacon’s. I freeze as shock runs through my body from head to toe, paralyzing me in fear.
“Lover boy isn’t here to save you. It might be worth facing his anger to shut you up permanently.”
I don’t speak. I’m afraid to move. Who is this man? He moves off me so he can roughly flip me over. I stare up into his hard eyes. He’s not an attractive man. Light hair, pointy nose, and lips so thin they’re hardly there at all. He has a scar that runs from the tip of his eyebrow to the middle of his cheek. “Leave me alone.”
“I don’t think I will… what does he call you? Princess? I don’t think I will, princess.” He says mockingly. Then, to my horror he runs his hand down the front of my body, squeezing my breasts painfully and then gripping my hip. His breathing starts quickening.
“No, please don’t touch me.”
“That’s right, beg, you bitch. Next time you will think twice about breaking the rules and trying to yell for help.”
Oh God. He’s going to hurt me, or worse. I do the only thing I can. I start struggling. I kick my legs like a three-year-old having a tantrum. I throw my head back and forth and get one of my hands loose and scrape my nails down the front of his face. “Let go of me!” I scream.

Author Jennifer Miller was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but now calls Arizona home. Jennifer’s love of reading began when she was a small child, and only continued to grow as she entered adulthood. Ever since winning a writing contest at the young age of nine, when she wrote a book about a girl with a pet unicorn, she’s dreamed of writing a book of her own.
Quickly learning that dreams don’t just fall into your lap, she knew she had to chase them herself and not be afraid to dream a little bigger. Most importantly, she is a wife and mother, and is very lucky to have a family that loves and supports her in all things. She also has an unhealthy addiction to handbags and chocolate covered strawberries, neither of which she cares to change.
